When is a box not a box? When it’s a very heavy rented plastic crate mainly suited for large office moves, best used with easy access lifts /trolleys. Not a small general domestic removal. Normally these crates are stuffed full of books hitting as high as 50kg plus of weight that can only be lifted by two men. Sometimes customers think using rented plastic crates like these is a good idea but that’s only if it’s an office or large business move not a small general domestic removal. The problem is the size and weight of these Plastic crates, they are large and heavy. I find its best not grappling down a narrow hall or stair and worst of all a two man lift resulting in wasted labour time and most importantly energy.

You can get different sized crates but the large ones seem to be the most popular ones for use and its always borrowed for the company they work for. You can get ones called a stair carry crate and really that’s what its meant for and around 54 litres of space in it . The ones we normally come across are the 8o litre standard crate just not suited for a small removal and always filled with heavy books.

These are some plastic rental crates we moved recently, most need two men to lift them meaning a simple job description over the phone becomes more labour intensive job due to boxes being actually heavy crates. Needles to say they are the 80 litre size.
