Elphinstone Chief Executive Ken Ross said “We wanted to create a world class development and the team have created a design which will become a landmark building and an icon that will make Glasgow proud. It will be an outstanding addition to the sky-line of the city and will transform, regenerate and revitalise an important part of the City. Elphinstone Place will provide new homes and workplaces and will underline Glasgow’s status as a great European City, reflecting its growing optimism as an exciting place to live and work.”
(ONE ARTICLE BELOW TELLING HOW IT REALLY IS WITH ELPHINSTONE )
Elphinstone however, were not a large enough company to progress with the scheme on their own, even at the peak of the property cycle, and were only able to clear the site before they had to start looking for a partner in the joint venture.
City Lofts stepped in and with a successful track record of developments from Salford to Cardiff it looked like the scheme might finally progress. Unfortunately for Cooper Cromar rumours soon flew that they had been dropped for City Lofts regular architect, Conran & Partners and that the tower was being scaled down to perhaps 25 floors from a previous 39.
(Oh by the way… its not happening , classic Elphinstone rubbish speak )
He said:

“We must make changes to the design that will require further consultation with bodies including Architecture and Design Scotland, before a new planning application is submitted.
“We expect all this to take about a year.”
(So its not the credit crunch – same old stories eh !)

Ken Ross, Chairman and Chief Executive of Elphinstone Holdings, said, “This new facility is an immense vote of confidence by Bank of Scotland Corporate in our Board and management team. We’ve had a long-standing and successful relationship with the bank and this investment adds an important dimension to our business, strengthening our competitive position and accelerating our capacity and growth. It means we can respond quickly to land and property opportunities and consider other ways of increasing the scale and the success of our group
(Is that still the case now ?? )
Ken said: “At Elphinstone we always encourage innovation and enterprise in our people and this is reflected through the excellent services we provide. The award is testament to the hard work of the whole team.
“Scotland has an entrepreneurial spirit that is borne out of a real drive to make a difference and I think that we mirror that at Elphinstone by always seeking to add value for our people and our customers.”
( Almost choked when I read this compelete and utter drivel )
BIG-HEARTED Glasgow builders are jetting out to South Africa today to build homes for poor villagers.
The men from property firm Elphinstone will spend 10 days building houses in a shanty town in Cape Town.
They are part of a charity project which will see 150 workers from all over the UK fly thousands of miles to build watertight homes to replace shacks.
Elphinstone Group chief executive Ken Ross, who has promised to roll up his sleeves and work as a labourer, and project manager Leslie Baird will be accompanying four tradesmen
( MAYBE HE SHOULD GET HIS BACKSIDE ROUND TO OUR SITE AND GET THAT FINISHED FIRST – I WOULDNT BE SUPRISED IF THIS DOESNT HAPPEN ,FUNNY HOW HE CAN TRAVEL 1000S OF MILE TO SEE THAT INSTEAD OF COMING 60 MILE TO APPOLIGISE TO PEOPLE WHO AVE PAID HIM FOR HOMES )
